Counselling visits
Counselling visits are confidential, private, and scheduled to protect you from seeing coworkers. In addition, psychologists are ethically bound to keep your file information confidential. They will not release any information to anyone without your written permission.
The only exceptions are legal (e.g. if a psychologist is subpoenaed to testify in court, if a child or senior is in need of protection, or if someone is in immediate physical danger).
Website visits and online courses
All website visits are anonymous. When you visit or navigate our web site, we will not collect any personal information (i.e. information that is unique to an individual, such as name, address, e-mail address or telephone number) unless you specifically provide this (e.g. in the members' registration area).
Registration
Some of the sections of this web site require registration (e.g. access to services for our members, such as online courses, health and wellness testing, child and eldercare information). When you use these features, we clearly disclose what information is required, what information is optional, and how that information may be used.
We use the information collected in the registration process for benefit entitlement confirmation and accounting purposes only.
We never provide any personally identifying information to an employer or third party. And we will never disclose or provide access to any information collected that would identify any individual or connect any individual to specific health concerns, topics, illnesses, or conditions.
E-mails and update notifications
We only send you information that you have specifically requested or notification of important updates to registration and/or log-in processes for products and services that you are registered for. Instructions for unsubscribing from e-mails are located at the bottom of each e-mail.
Cookies
'Cookies' are bits of information placed on your computer's hard drive by a web site. They are simple text files that help your browser remember certain information that the web site can later retrieve to streamline communication between your browser and the web site.
Wilson Banwell only uses cookies for convenience so that you do not have to enter the same information each time you visit us (e.g. signing in to an online course).
Cookies may also be used by Wilson Banwell on an aggregate basis to track site navigation. This information is not traceable to an individual user. We use this information to assist us in determining where people go when visiting our site and what information is of most interest. This information is used to improve our site and is never shared with third parties.
Your information is kept secure
We are committed to security procedures that protect any information you submit to us from misuse or unauthorized disclosure. And we use every effort to safeguard your personal information. However, like other internet sites, we cannot guarantee that every communication is completely secure from people who might attempt to evade security measures or intercept transmissions over the internet.
Our security measures include:
- The information we collect online is kept secure using SSL 128-bit encryption technology, one of the highest forms of security, privacy, and confidentiality available today (this means that all information sent between your computer and our server is encrypted by the sender and decrypted by the receiver. This protects information from being intercepted over the internet).
- All data sent over an encrypted SSL connection is protected with a mechanism for detecting tampering (that is, automatically determining whether the data has been altered in transit).
- We use firewalls and stringent internal access procedures. And
- We constantly monitor all internal systems to ensure security.
Other confidentiality features
- services delivered at convenient locations away from the worksite
- after-hours appointments whenever necessary
- billing and statistical reports retain anonymity
- no employer access to individual records
- third party audits to ensure compliance with these features
