Coaching
Research shows that of all the approaches to employee development, coaching is the most effective means to help employees learn and retain new skills and practices.
At Wilson Banwell, we help managers develop their skills on the job. We provide the procedures, training and tools for management coaching, development, objective setting and follow-up measurement.
We call our approach assessment based coaching. We use a range of assessment tools, including our proprietary 360-degree assessment tools (available on-line). We use these to identify the key competencies that need improvement. This assessment-based approach ensures that our conclusions about needed behaviour change are based upon sound and defensible evidence.
We then provide the structure and the support to enable development. We work alongside the manager to ensure that they understand the key behaviours that need changing and that they develop an action plan that will lead to change. We continue to assess and measure to gauge success.
Coaching offers a systematic method to help retain and develop excellent employees and to redirect valued employees who are beginning to get "off track". Organizations can use coaching to signal that they value employee contributions and want to help them develop further.
Managers can access our management support line for coaching questions
and on-going support.
