Foundations of effective parenting

This course is about developing parenting practices that guide your child’s healthy development and provide opportunities for learning and growth.

The course is about building a strong attachment and connection with your child as well as developing skills that encourage appropriate behaviour and help you resolve parent-child conflicts.

Who is the course for?

The course is for parents of children of all ages and stages of development: infants, toddlers, and adolescents. The course is also useful for parents-to-be.

Course objectives

The goals of this course are twofold:

  1. To help parents create a strong foundation of parenting, and
  2. To use this foundation as a springboard to parenting practices that help children develop skills that are essential to well-being: empathy and compassion, decision-making and problem-solving, communication, accountability, responsibility, self-confidence and self-belief, and appropriate behaviour
